Varaprasad bags gold

Vijayawada: Vijayawada veteran player C B S Varaprasad secured gold medal in 75+ men’s singles event of the ITF –world masters tennis tournament held at KSLTA, Bengaluru. Varaprasad defeated Ramakrishna 6-4, 6-4 in the final. Earlier, Varaprasad had finished runner-up along with Dr S Ramakrishna in the doubles category of the GISTA tournament in Visakhapatnam.
Hafeez praises Mallikarjuna Rao
Guntur superintendent of police Arif Hafeez heaped praise on AR head constable Ch Mallikarjuna Rao, who had won the gold medal in the 45 plus category of the South Zone masters weightlifting championship at SP office, Guntur. Guntur additional SP (crime) Srinivasa Rao was also present.
SRM-AP sports fest held
As many as 800 athletes from 14 universities participated in the SRM-AP sports festival held at SRM AP University ground, Guntur. Competitions were held in cricket, football, tennis, table tennis, powerlifitng, basketball, volleyball, athletics, chess events. Prof D Narayana Rao, pro-vice chancellor SRM University – AP presented the prizes to winners. Dr R.Premkumar, registrar, Dr Vijayakumar Upadhyay, director of sports were present.
