Two motorcyclists crushed to death near Rajahmundry

Rajahmundry: In a fatal road accident on the Gaman Bridge on the Kovvur side in East Godavari district, two persons were killed on Wednesday morning near Pole No. 14.Tatapudi Subbarao (37), a resident of Duddukuru village in Devarapalli mandal, and another person named Koti, also from the same village, were travelling on a motorcycle from Duddukuru towards Rajahmundry.When they reached Pole No. 14 of Gaman Bridge, the motorcycle rider attempted to overtake a tractor moving ahead of them. During the overtaking attempt, the motorcycle lost balance and came under the rear wheels of a lorry travelling from Rajahmundry towards Kovvur.Both the rider and the pillion rider sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot. On receiving information, police rushed to the scene. The bodies were shifted to the mortuary of the Community Health Centre (CHC), Kovvur, for preservation and medico-legal procedures.
