Vijayawada: Tension prevailed at Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur on Saturday after protests erupted over the removal of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's name from the university's engineering college. YSRCP leaders expressed strong anger over the move and demanded that YSR's name be restored immediately. When party leader Ambati Murali Krishna attempted to submit a petition to the vice-chancellor, seeking clarification and reversal of the decision, activists of Telugu Nadu Students Federation tried to obstruct his car at the campus entrance. Police intervened and brought the situation under control. The party leaders later met the VC and submitted a petition demanding restoration of the name of engineering college.
