Spurious liquor mastermind, three aides held; 1,000 litres of rectified spirit seized

GUNTUR: The prohibition and excise sleuths have arrested four more persons involved in the spurious liquor racket that was busted in Gadevaripalem near Repalle in Guntur district. The racket was busted four days ago and the officials have unearthed a mini-distillery set-up by the perpetrators.

The excise officials have arrested two persons during the raids on the

illegal distillery.

Special teams were formed to nab the remaining persons involved. One Sashi Kumar, a native of Hyderabad who was the master mind behind setting up the spurious liquor distillery was arrested on Saturday. Another team of excise officials have nabbed one Aditya from Adilabad in Telangana who is supplying the

rectified spirit

that is being used to manufacture the liquor.

The excise officials also arrested Munna alias Nageswar Rao who used to distribute the liquor bottles to belt shops and another

person Praveen

who supplied caramel that was used in the liquor manufacturing to get desired colour without getting any doubt.

The excise inspector of Repalle,

M Venkat Reddy

told that they have also seized 5 barrels of rectified spirit that was shipped from Maharashtra to Repalle but was not delivered as the racket was busted before it was arrived.

The excise officials also identified one

Deepak Rana

from Vasai in Maharashtra as the main supplier of rectified spirit. The illegal distillery was set-up in the month of November. Three orders for rectified spirit was placed each consignment consisting 5 barrels. Each barrel consist 200 litres of rectified spirit. While two of the consignments were delivered one consignment was seized by the excise sleuths on Saturday.

The excise officials also probing the role of one Tummala Kiran Kumar working as junior assistant in excise department who was a close relative of main perpetrator Sashi Kumar. Special teams are being sent to Maharasthra to nab Deepak Rana and his son.
