VIJAYAWADA: A Skill hub and Incubation Centre with an estimated investment of ₹20 crore is set to be established in Kakinada, aimed at shaping the future of youth from the Godavari districts through long-term skill development and entrepreneurship promotion. The project has been proposed by Rajya Sabha MP Sana Satish Babu, reflecting a development-oriented vision focused on creating permanent infrastructure rather than short-term welfare interventions.
The proposed centre aligns with the broader vision of encouraging entrepreneurship at the grassroots level and transforming young people from job seekers into job creators. Conceived as a comprehensive facility, the Skill Hub and Incubation Centre is expected to play a key role in nurturing entrepreneurial talent and equipping youth with industry-relevant skills. The centre will be set up on a two-acre campus at the ITI College premises, located opposite JNTU in Kakinada. It will house a permanent G+2 structure accommodating a modern skill hub, an incubation centre, separate hostels for boys and girls, and a mess facility. The integrated infrastructure is designed to provide an enabling environment for learning, innovation, and enterprise development.
The incubation centre, a core component of the project, will serve as a platform for young innovators to convert ideas into viable businesses. It will offer mentorship, basic infrastructure, and linkages with industries, thereby supporting start-ups and fostering a culture of innovation among local youth, Satish Babu told ‘TOI.’
As part of the project rollout, Sana Satish Babu has forwarded a proposal for ₹5.30 crore as the first instalment from his MP Local Area Development funds. The proposal has received approval from the Kakinada district collector, marking a significant step towards implementation of the project. The Skill Hub is also expected to complement the HRD and IT minister Lokesh and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s efforts to attract advanced companies by ensuring the availability of a skilled workforce tailored to industry needs. By bridging the gap between industry requirements and the existing skill sets of youth, the centre aims to prepare a future-ready workforce capable of meeting evolving employment demands.
“The project is being positioned not merely as a physical structure, but as a permanent institutional platform for skill development, employment generation, and entrepreneurial growth. Once operational, the Skill Hub and Incubation Centre is expected to emerge as a milestone in the state’s development journey and a catalyst for socio-economic transformation in the Godavari districts," said Sana Satish Babu.
