Prakasam cops nab 2 with fake currency notes

Vijayawada: Prakasam police nabbed two members of a fake currency racket and seized 64 fake notes of 500 denomination on Thursday. According to police, two persons tried to pass off a fake 500 note at a shop in Hanuman Junction area in Peddaraveedu mandal.
The shopkeeper who grew suspicious after examining the note alerted locals. When the accused attempted to flee the spot by boarding a bus to Vijayawada, locals caught them and informed the police.
Police rushed to the spot and seized 64 counterfeit notes of 500 denomination from the accused’s possession. Cops later sent the notes to a bank seeking confirmation. Police refused to disclose the identity of the accused stating the case is under investigation.
