TIRUPATI: A police constable who had an argument with deputy chief minister K Narayana Swamy over the bad condition of roads in the GD Nellore constituency of Chittoor district has been suspended.

The Karvetinagaram police have also registered a case against the police constable under sec 153 a, 504, 505 (2), 506 IPC and Sec 67 of the IT Act.

According to a complaint lodged by V Sundar Raju, YSRCP sarpanch at Annur gram panchayat, C Yugendran who works as an AR constable at Tirupati and is a resident of Gandrajulu Indlu, entered into a heated altercation with deputy chief minister K Narayana Swamy during the Gadapa Gadapaku mana prabhutvam programme at Gandrajulu Indlu held on June 29.

"The police constable passed derogatory remarks against the deputy chief minister and his family members and even tried to assault the minister. Later, Yugendran uploaded the video on social media platforms to further humiliate the deputy chief minister", Sundar Raju alleged in his complaint.

The complainant also alleged that on 3rd July, Yugendran called him on his mobile and threatened to behead the deputy chief minister and hang his head in the street corner.

Based on the complaint lodged by the YSRCP sarpanch, Tirupati district police wing suspended Yugendran and the Chittoor district police wing booked a case against him.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam Party national president N Chandrababu Naidu found fault with the police department for cracking the whip against the constable who questioned the deputy chief minister.

"This is nothing short of terrorizing the people by misusing the police department, making it to function like an affiliate department of the ruling YSRCP. The ruling party is stifling the voice of anyone who questions the failure of the government by booking false cases against the innocent", Naidu lamented.
