New Tirupati SP to give 50% salary for kids’ education

After assuming charge as the SP of Tirupati urban police wing on Saturday, Avula Ramesh Reddy promised to

contribute

50% of his

salary

to fund the education of meritorious students.

The 2007 batch IPS officer of the Tripura cadre, who is from Andhra Pradesh, expressed his gratitude towards chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy for providing him with the opportunity to serve his home state after 13 years of service.

As per customary practice, Ramesh Reddy offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara at the Tirumala temple and later reached the district police office where he assumed the charge as the new SP. Speaking to reporters after assuming charge, the new SP outlined his priorities and said ‘‘It is a honour to be an SP of the Tirupati urban police wing whose jurisdiction includes Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala. My top priority would be to uphold the peaceful environs of the temple city.”

“Cybercrime is a universal problem and my focus would be to effectively tackle cybercrime by making use of the latest technology. Equal focus would be on bringing down the crime rate against women and children by effectively enforcing the provisions of the new Disha Act,” Ramesh Reddy added.

“I have also taken upon myself certain social obligations, especially given my long-term association with the temple city. From now on, I will ensure to visit at least one school every month and contribute 50% of my salary to fund the educational needs of meritorious students. There are a lot of civil services aspirants here and I would be available to guide the students and help them successfully crack the civil services examinations”, asserted the new Tirupati SP.
