Tirupati: Nandyal district police have cracked a high-value commercial burglary and arrested three members of an inter-state gang from Rajasthan.
Using the AI-powered ‘CCTV 360’ surveillance network developed by the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS), police recovered ₹14.01 lakh in cash, a car used in the crime and 45 litres of illicit liquor.
The case dates back to April 20, when burglars broke into an ITC cigarette godown under Dhone Town police limits around 3.30am and decamped with a large stock of cigarette cartons.
SP Sunil Sheoran formed special teams under Dhone DSP P Srinivas to track the accused. Acting on inputs, police set up a check-post near Rudraksha Gutta on Gooty Road, where CCTV alerts helped intercept a suspicious vehicle and nab the trio.
The accused — Laxman Ram Kumawat (45), Ghanshyam alias Ganpat (45) and Manak Chand Kumawat (35) — confessed to stealing the cartons and selling them in Hyderabad.
Police said the gang was also involved in four similar burglaries in Kadapa. Background checks revealed multiple cases against them across Telangana, AP and Karnataka.
