LIC agent injured in acid attack in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: A man sustained burns in an acid-laced bathroom cleaner attack by an unidentified assailant at Akkireddypalem in Gajuwaka police station limits on Tuesday night. The victim, Venkata Appa Rao, an LIC agent, was targeted outside his residence, and the incident was captured on CCTV.Police said Rao was seated outside his house when a masked man approached on foot, hurled the chemical, and fled before anyone could intervene. Rao suffered burns on his shoulder and forehead. His family rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable.CCTV footage shows the attacker carrying a bottle, walking toward Rao, aiming at his face, flinging the contents, and escaping. Gajuwaka police collected samples from the scene to identify the chemical used. A case has been registered, and special teams have been formed to trace the accused. Investigators are probing possible motives, including personal disputes, financial issues, or old rivalries.
