Kurnool road crash: Death toll rises to 10

Tirupati: The death toll in the road accident reported near Chilakaladona in Mantralayam mandal in Kurnool district on Thursday has gone up to 10 after two women succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital in the last 48 hours.It may be recalled that eight persons died and 13 others sustained injuries after a group of devotees heading to Mantralayam from Karnataka on a pilgrimage met with a road accident near Chilakaladona in the early hours on Thursday.The mini pick-up truck in which they were travelling veered off the road and rammed into a fly-ash truck coming in the opposite direction near Chilakaladona village.While the list of the deceased included five women, a 3-year-old girl child and two men, two more women, identified as Tejaswini and Shobha, died while undergoing treatment at the govt general hospital in Kurnool on Friday and Saturday.Kurnool police completed postmortem formalities and handed over the victims' bodies to their relatives.
