Vijayawada: A second-year intermediate student allegedly died by suicide late on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Ganesh Nayak, a student at a private junior college in the area. According to the police, there was a scuffle between senior and junior students on the college campus earlier in the day. The college principal reportedly reprimanded several students, including Ganesh, after the incident. Investigators suspect the reprimand left him distressed.
Later that night, Ganesh allegedly scaled the college wall and left the premises without informing anyone. He is believed to have reached Vijayawada railway station. In the early hours of Monday, he reportedly fell on the railway tracks near the station and died on the spot. Railway police recovered the body, identified the student, and informed his family members. Following the incident, grieving parents and fellow students staged a protest at the college, alleging negligence by the management. They demanded a comprehensive inquiry and strict action against those responsible, claiming that timely intervention could have averted the tragedy.
