Tirupati:Nandyal police arrested a notorious inter-state thief and recovered stolen gold ornaments worth approximately ₹65 lakh from the possession of the accused on Sunday. According to Nandyal SP Suneel Sheoran, the accused was identified as
Sohail Khan (38), a resident of Gaddelahalli In Bengaluru north area. Sohail Khan, addicted to various vices, was involved in multiple house break-in offences reported at Kuppam, Penukonda and at Pension Mohalla locality in Hasan district in Karnataka.
Despite being sent to jail in connection with house break-in cases registered at Hasan district, Sohail Khan did not mend his ways. He shifted base to Nandyal district and was involved in house break-in offences at Atmakur and Nandyal since 2015. The district police wing maintained a close surveillance on his movements and nabbed him near the SRBC canal close to Velugodu on Sunday. Police recovered gold ornaments weighing 42 tulas from the possession of the accused.
