Vijayawada: The
Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has postponed the reopening of junior colleges for the academic year 2026–27 from June 1 to June 6.
In an order issued on Friday, BIE Secretary P. Ranjit Basha said the decision was taken in view of the Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations, scheduled till June 5.
The board said college premises will be used for examinations and staff will be engaged in exam duties, necessitating a revision of the academic calendar.
Accordingly, all govt, aided, private unaided, and cooperative junior colleges, as well as composite degree colleges offering Intermediate courses, will reopen on June 6 instead of June 1.
The board said the summer vacation stands extended till June 5 and directed principals and managements to make necessary arrangements. All other provisions of the academic calendar will remain unchanged.
