Heatwave: Jana Sena cancels state-level event, plans local celebrations
Vijayawada: Jana Sena has decided to organise its Formation Day celebrations on March 14 through decentralised programmes across Andhra Pradesh, following instructions from party president and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan. The party initially planned to hold a large state-level celebration in Pithapuram, the assembly constituency represented by Pawan. However, the leadership later cancelled the state-level event due to rising temperatures and forecasts of intense heat in the coming days.Taking the weather conditions into consideration, Pawan directed party leaders to conduct Formation Day programmes locally in districts, cities, mandal headquarters, and village panchayats instead of organising a single large gathering.Party leaders said the new plan would allow more party activists, women members, and local leaders to participate in celebrations within their respective areas. As part of the programmes, the party flag will be hoisted and meetings will be organised to explain the party's ideology and future plans for development of the state.Alongside political meetings, the party also called for several service activities on the occasion. These include blood donation camps, distribution of food to the needy and environmental initiatives such as tree plantation drives. Jana Sena leaders said the decentralised celebrations would help maintain enthusiasm among party activists while ensuring that the events are conducted safely in view of the prevailing heat conditions.
