Visakhapatnam: Dr BR Ambedkar was a visionary who dedicated his life to the welfare of the common man, said Prof G Singaiah, vice-chancellor of Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik University (Assam), while addressing the 135th birth anniversary celebrations of Ambedkar organised by the Dr BR Ambedkar Chair at Andhra University.
Prof Singaiah highlighted the relevance of Ambedkar's philosophy in contemporary times and urged the younger generation to actively practice his ideas and principles. He described Ambedkar as both a great patriot and a social reformer.
Prof V Balamohan Das, former vice-chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University, said there is an "Ambedkar" within every individual and encouraged youth to reflect on their role in building society. He called Ambedkar a spotless politician and true reformer.
Prof. Y. Satyanarayana, former vice-chancellor of Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, delivered a lecture on "Ambedkar's Vision – Indian Constitution – Human Values." He explained that the Constitution was carefully crafted to meet the nation's needs and continues to serve as a strong pillar of Indian democracy.
Prof M James Stephen, chair professor of the AU Ambedkar Chair, presented a report on its achievements, including adoption and development of five villages, digital education initiatives, participation in international conferences, and awards won in Europe.
