Couple killed in Srikakulam, cops launch manhunt

Visakhapatnam: The Srikakulam district police formed a special team to nab the accused in connection with the double murder case. It may be recalled that a tribal couple, Savara Illango (55) and his wife, Savara Jyothi (50), were hacked to death by Savara Thotayya in Chinarajapuram village under Kotturu mandal in the district over suspicions of practising witchcraft on Wednesday.The preliminary investigation has revealed that Thotayya attacked the couple with a sharp weapon and fled from the spot after killing the couple. Thotayya's two-year-old daughter has been suffering from some issues for the past few months. Suspecting that Illango practised black magic as his daughter was not recovering from illness, Thotayya held a grudge against Illango and decided to eliminate him.Thotayya entered Illango's house and attacked him and attacked Illango's wife Jyothi when she tried to rescue her husband. The police said the deceased couple is survived by three children. A case has been registered, and the police launched a manhunt for the accused.
