Tirupati: Chittoor II town police nabbed two interstate thieves and recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹34 lakh from their possession.
According to additional SP SR Rajasekhar, the accused arrested by the police were identified as Lalu Prasad (34) and Janardhan (31), both residents of Salem in Tamil Nadu.
The duo broke into a locked house at Durga Nagar Colony in Chittoor and decamped with valuables on Feb 5. Following a complaint lodged by the house owner, Varadarajulu, Chittoor II town police registered a case and launched an investigation.
During the investigation, police found that Lalu Prasad is a rowdy sheeter. He is accused of two murder cases, two attempt-to-murder cases, 11 dacoity cases, and 16 house break-in cases registered at multiple police stations in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Similarly, Janardhan is a seasoned criminal and is accused in seven cases registered at different police stations.
Chittoor II town police apprehended the duo near a petrol station on the outskirts of the town. They recovered gold ornaments weighing 151 grams, silver articles weighing 2.6 kg and two cars from their possession.
