VIJAYAWADA: Signalling what the state govt describes as a golden era of investments, global air-conditioning major Carrier Global Corporation is set to establish a large-scale manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. HRD and IT minister Nara Lokesh will lay the foundation stone for the new plant at Sri City on Wednesday.
The officials said the project marks another milestone in the state’s aggressive industrial push under the leadership of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. “The state has already attracted around 800 projects in the last 22 months of TDP-led NDA regime, reflecting renewed investor confidence and policy-driven growth. IT minister Nara Lokesh played a proactive role in attracting big-ticket investments to the state,” said industries minister TG Bharat.
The proposed Carrier facility will come up over 39 acres in Sri City, located in Satyavedu constituency of Tirupati district. The company plans to invest approximately ₹1,000 crore in a phased manner by 2028. Once operational, the unit is expected to generate employment for over 3,000 people, both directly and indirectly, providing a major boost to the local economy.
Carrier, a US-based global leader in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions, already has a strong presence in India, with a manufacturing unit in Gurugram and a Global Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad. The Sri City plant is expected to further expand its footprint and cater to the growing demand for HVAC products in domestic as well as international markets.
According to officials, the upcoming facility will be a state-of-the-art smart manufacturing unit equipped with advanced plant and machinery. It will focus on producing a range of HVAC systems and related products, aligning with global standards and future-ready technologies. The project is also expected to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen supply chain capabilities.
The state govt believes that such high-value investments will not only accelerate industrial growth but also create sustainable employment opportunities and promote regional development. The Sri City ecosystem, with its strategic location and robust infrastructure, continues to attract multinational companies looking to expand operations in India. With this development, Andhra Pradesh aims to position itself as a preferred destination for global manufacturing, particularly in high-technology sectors, reinforcing its vision of rapid industrialization and economic expansion.
