BC unity key to representation, say leaders at conclave

Vijayawada: A major BC intellectual conclave held here witnessed a strong call for unity and collective action to secure the rights of backward classes. The meeting brought together representatives from nearly 100 caste associations and prominent thinkers to deliberate on the future course of action for BC welfare. Addressing the gathering, BCY Party chief Bode Ramachandra Yadav said that the coming together of leaders and intellectuals from diverse BC communities on a single platform was a significant development. "For decades, leaders like R Krishnaiah have been tirelessly fighting for BC rights. Now, it is time for all of us to unite and assert our strength in legislative bodies," he said. He emphasised that only through unity can BCs ensure proper political representation and safeguard their interests. Yadav warned that continued neglect of BC issues by those in power would not be tolerated. "Govts are formed with the support of BC votes. Rulers must remember this and fulfil their promises. If ignored, we will respond strongly in the future," he asserted. He also indicated that he was prepared to launch an indefinite hunger strike soon, demanding implementation of assurances made to BC communities. He further stressed that BCs, being a majority in society, deserve equitable representation in all sectors, particularly in governance. "Real solutions to our issues will emerge only when BCs are given rightful participation in power. We must expose injustices in reservations in education and employment, and ensure welfare schemes reach every beneficiary," he added. The conclave was organised under the leadership of Angirekula Adiseshu, founder president of BC Welfare JAC. Among others who attended were Rajya Sabha members R Krishnaiah, Paka Venkata Satyanarayana, along with several BC leaders, intellectuals and representatives of community organisations.
