AP secretariat employee arrested in Pocso case

Vijayawada: A secretariat employee was arrested in a case registered under the Pocso Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The accused was taken into custody by Nunna police following a complaint lodged by a woman from Payakapuram.Police said the case was registered on Feb 14, based on a complaint filed by a single woman residing within Nunna police station limits. She maintained a first aid centre until 2023. The accused, a native of Tadepalli in Guntur district, previously served as an inspector in the legal metrology department and is presently working on deputation at AP secretariat as assistant section officer.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that he first visited her clinic in June 2023, introducing himself as a circle inspector in the legal metrology department. Over time, he developed close contact with the family. She alleged that he later borrowed large sums of money from her, citing medical and legal needs.The complainant further accused him of sexually assaulting her, harassing her minor daughter, using obscene and caste-based abusive language, and issuing threats. She also alleged that he recorded private images without consent, circulated them among acquaintances, and attempted to intimidate the family. In Jan, he allegedly contacted her minor daughter through social media and sent obscene messages. Further investigation is underway.
