TIRUPATI: Following public outcry over the incident reported at the

Antarvedi temple

where the temple chariot was burnt down,

Tirupati SP Avula Ramesh Reddy

inspected the giant wooden chariot of the

Tiruchanoor temple

on Wednesday.

Following his inspection, Tirupati SP Ramesh Reddy directed the Tiruchanoor police to step up vigil around the main temple complex at Tiruchanoor especially to thwart any attempts of sabotage or vandalism.

Speaking to reporters on the lines of the inspections, Tirupati SP said that security and vigil has been stepped up at all prominent shrines of worship in the temple city to prevent any attempts of mischief of any kind.

"Religious matters are very sensitive and we are on an alert to prevent any attempts of mischief aimed at disturbing the communal harmony in the temple city. Any such attempts will be dealt with in a very tough manner," asserted Ramesh Reddy.
