Accused Navy man tells Vizag police he killed girlfriend at friend’s place
Visakhapatnam: A fresh development has emerged in the gruesome murder case of Polipalli Mounika (30), with Gajuwaka police in Vizag city uncovering disturbing facts. It may be recalled that 30-year-old married man Chintada Ravindra, working with the Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam, who was allegedly in a relationship with Mounika, murdered and dismembered her body on March 29.The accused initially confessed that he murdered Mounika inside his rented flat in LV Nagar area of the city. However, during police interrogation, Ravindra confessed that he killed her at his friend's house close to his rented flat, packed the body in a trolley bag, and dismembered the body after shifting it to his flat. He earlier confessed that on March 29, he picked Mounika up from Marripalem locality on his bike and took her to his flat, where he killed her after an argument. However, CCTV footage showed no record of Mounika entering Ravindra's LV Nagar flat.When he was questioned how Mounika was murdered without her entry into his flat, the accused confessed that his friend and two others stay in a rented house a short distance from his flat. When they left for duty on the morning of March 29, Ravindra took the keys of the house from his friend, picked up Mounika and went there. They fought over some issue, during which Ravindra smothered Mounika to death.
He then went to his flat and returned with a large trolley bag, placed the body inside it, and transported it back to his flat.Ravindra later procured a knife, a floor wiper, dustbin liners, and some room sprays through an online delivery platform and cut the body into three parts. He kept the torso in the refrigerator, packed the legs and hip portion in the trolley bag and hid it under the bed, and took the head and limbs to a secluded place at Darapalem and burned them with petrol. Upon his police custody ended, Ravindra was produced before the court and sent to the central prison. Police said further custody of the accused would be sought if required.
