750 kgs of dry cannabis seized from coffee gardens in ASR dist
Visakhapatnam: The Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district police with the support of Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) conducted a raid at Sangamvalasa near coffee gardens under Munchingiput mandal of the district and seized around 750 kgs of dry cannabis worth over Rs 37 lakh. According to ASR district police chief Amit Bardar, the raid was carried out based on credible information about the illegal storage of cannabis. During the operation, the police team found 39 bags of dry cannabis (750 kgs). The police said the ganja laden bags were found in the coffee gardens, and the accused persons managed to flee from the spot noticing the enforcement personnel. The police said the investigation is on to identify and nab the accused persons in connection with the illegal storage of the ganja. The police suspect that some people might have procured the weed from Andhra Odisha Border and stored it in the village. A case under section 20 (b) (ii) (c) and 8(c) of NDPS Act and section 106 of BNSS were registered and a special team was formed to identify the accused.
