Visakhapatnam/Vijayawada: Three persons, including a minor boy were killed in a road accident after a private travel bus rammed into their bike near Pothireddipalem under the Yelamanchili (Rural) police station limits in Anakapalle district on Thursday midnight.
The deceased have been identified as Bangaru Nani (24) and E Govind (25), both were residents of Purushottapuram, and Bangaru Durga Prasad (16) of Pothireddipalem, all from Yelamanchali mandal in the district.
the police said the fatal accident occurred, when a private travel bus travelling from Anakapalle towards Tuni collided with the two-wheeler while it was taking a U-turn near Pothireddipalem Junction.
The trio received severe injuries and two of them died while they were shifting to hospital and another one died while undergoing treatment. The trio were friends, and were on their way to Pothireddipalem from Purushottapuram when the incident took place.
Meanwhile, two persons were killed and three others injured after a lorry ran over them at Lakshmipuram in Tiruvuru during the wee hours of Friday. The two deceased have been identified as Eswar, 16, and M Sunny, 17, both natives of Tiruvuru, while the three injured have been identified as D Venkateswara Rao, 16, D Ram Charan, 17, and B Charan Teja, 17, residents of Tiruvuru and Gampalagudem.
According to Tirugurur police, the incident took place around 3 am on Friday when the five teens who went for catering work on a bike and auto stopped at Lakshmipuram to distribute catering work wages among themselves.
"The five teens stopped their vehicles and were having casual talks by the roadside at Lakshmipuram during which tragedy struck in the form of the lorry. While two were crushed under the lorry wheels, the remaining three who were hit by the vehicle escaped with injuries," Tiruvuru CI K Giri Babu said.
Upon learning about the incident, the Tiruvuru police rushed to the spot, launched rescue operations and shifted the two bodies to govt hospital where the inquest was completed. Further, the police shifted Charan Teja, whose health condition is said to be critical, to a private hospital in Vijayawada for better treatment, while the remaining two are undergoing treatment at Tiruvuru.
A case has been registered and a manhunt has been launched to nab the lorry driver, who is at large.
