Visakhapatnam: The Vizianagaram district police arrested two inter-state offenders for their involvement in massive property offences at GMR residential quarters of Rajam in Vizianagaram district. The arrested were identified as Rock Singh (36) and Mohan Singh (28), both natives of Madhya Pradesh. The police recovered 470 gm of gold ornaments from the accused.
The duo is suspected to be part of a four-member gang involved in a series of property offences. According to police, the gang targeted locked houses at the staff quarters of GMRIT at Ponugutivalasa under the limits of Santhakaviti police station and decamped with valuables, including 1,523 gm of gold ornaments.

The incident occurred on the night of Feb 1 when the inmates were out of the station and came to light on Feb 2 after they returned home. The gang stole 1,278 gm of gold ornaments from Dr Nagesh's flat and 245 gm of gold ornaments from Professor G Madhava Krishna Reddy's residence.
The CCTV footage revealed that the burglary gang, covered with face masks, entered the township through the rear compound wall and decamped with the valuables.
The police examined the CCTV footage, collected a few clues at the spot, and concluded that it was the handiwork of an inter-state gang. The police formed special teams to solve the case.
The duo were caught by the police at Buradapeta junction in Vizianagaram district when they came back to the town to commit property offences. During the interrogation, the accused confessed to their crime, and the police said the investigation is underway to nab a few more members of the gang and recover the remaining stolen property.
