10-year-old girl dies by suicide in Nellore

Tirupati: In a tragic incident, a 10-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide at her residence under suspicious circumstances in Kakupalli village on Monday. Nellore rural police have registered a case and launched an investigation.According to the police, the girl, who is studying in class 5 at a local school, returned home after her classes on Monday afternoon.While her parents were away, she was playing with her younger siblings. However, in an unexpected turn, she reportedly hanged herself on the house veranda.The incident occurred in a layout in Kakupalli village under the jurisdiction of the Nellore rural police station. The deceased is the daughter of Venkata Ramanaiah, who works as a watchman in the area.Nellore rural circle inspector Venu stated that police received information around 6 pm and immediately rushed to the spot. "Preliminary inquiry suggests that the girl attempted suicide earlier but was stopped by her siblings. Later, she allegedly used a bucket and a saree to hang herself when no one intervened."Police urged the public not to spread unverified information regarding the minor girl's death."At the time of the incident, her younger siblings were present. We have called in the clues team and forensic experts to examine the scene. A detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause behind the suicide," he said.The girl's body has been sent for postmortem examination, which is scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday.
