To mark the International Literacy Day (September 8), the World Literacy of Canada (WLC) is going to organise a rally from the main gate of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on Thursday.

VARANASI: To mark the International Literacy Day (September 8), the World Literacy of Canada (WLC) is going to organise a rally from the main gate of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on Thursday. The aim of the rally is to raise voice in favour of female literacy.
Former principal of Mahila Mahavidyalaya, BHU, Sushila Singh will flag off the rally. Around 1,000 women will take part in the rally.

According to the programme director, Sheetanshu Sharma, the WLC has been working for literacy of adults in eastern Uttar Pradesh over a decade by holding literacy programmes in 300 villages and runs over 400 literacy centres in Varanasi and surrounding areas.
Dharna: The workers of Sarvajan Vikas Party will stage a demonstration at the district headquarters demanding equal opportunity of education to all on the occasion of International Literacy Day on Thursday.
