VARANASI: The power crisis deepened in most parts of the city as technical snag in 220 KV Sahupuri line disrupted power supply on Saturday.
While the feeders attached to 132 KV Bhikharipur substation in the southern parts of the city remained worst hit, the heart of the city comprising areas like Sigra, Mahmoorganj, Gadaulia, Lahurabir and Maidagin were also not spared.

A number of trans-Varuna areas including Khajuri, Pandeypur, Ashapur and Paharia witnessed additonal power rostering that extended over four hours in the day.
According to AK Chaturvedi, superintending engineer (transmission), efforts are on to remove technical snag in the line to restore power supply as it is one of the crucial lines of power supply in the city. "A number of sub stations are facing rostering on rotation basis and efforts are being made to give power supply through alternate lines," he added.
Meanwhile, reports of Dubakia control unit indicated that there was no respite from extended power cut as per instructions of Lucknow control unit.
