Police arrest neighbour for murder of elderly couple

GORAKHPUR: Police arrested Ravi Sharma, 24, a Maya Bazar resident for murdering an elderly couple. On 21st April, 2013, around 1:30 am Ravi attacked the couple, Vijay Sharma, 65 and Shakuntala Sharma, 62, with a spade and killed them.
According to Rajghat police station, SHO, Qazi Ibrahim, "the accused was a neighbor of the deceased couple and had good relation with them.He was a home tutor and had spent all the money that he had taken for studies on his girlfriend. As he didn't have any money left, he thought to murder the elderly couple and steal money from the house".
"To carry out the task, he bought the spade and hid it in the couple's house. At 10:30 pm, Ravi as usual went to the couple's house to watch TV with them. Around 1:30 am when the couple went to sleep, he killed them with the spade and stole Rs 17000 and some jewelry from the house", he added further.
Police have seized the spade, Rs 8000 and a cloth with blood stains on it and have sent Ravi to jail.
