Noida airport: A boon for Kashi’s tourism, trade & local industries
Varanasi: With the commencement of operations at Jewar International Airport, travel and trade to western Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region will get new wings. After air services begin from here, the distance from Purvanchal to the west will be reduced. The Noida airport is set to shrink distances to Varanasi, Jaunpur, Chandauli, Ghazipur, and other districts, saving time and hassle. It is also poised to give a major boost to religious tourism, medical tourism, and business travel, opening up new avenues for growth and exploration.
Western UP cities like Agra, Meerut, and Greater Noida are set to get a whole lot closer to Purvanchal folks, thanks to the new airport. Passengers from Varanasi and surrounding districts will have more travel options, and Delhi's IGIA won't be the only international flight hub. This airport is a game-changer for tourism, trade, jobs, and connectivity, putting Purvanchal on the national and global map.
Direct flights from eastern to western UP are a big win for Purvanchal's tourism industry. With Jewar International Airport up and running, domestic and foreign tourists can easily visit Kashi's religious-historical hotspots. Expect a boost in footfall at Sarnath, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, and other Sanatan sites, putting Purvanchal on the tourism map.
The new airport will be a game-changer for local businesses - exporters, importers, Banarasi saree weavers, farmers, artisans, and traders will save time and money with faster connectivity. This means Purvanchal's products can reach national and global markets easily. Plus, the airport's construction and operation will create thousands of jobs, boosting hotels, transport, tourism, and small businesses, giving local youth a chance to shine. Director of Varanasi's Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Puneet Gupta, said that flights will start soon once schedules for Jewar Airport are received from various airlines.
Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, joint director, Dharmaarth Karya department, said that Jewar airport is going to benefit religious tourism in Uttar Pradesh. After landing at Jewar airport, travel to Mathura, Agra, Bateshwar, Shakumbhari Devi, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Vindhyachal, and Chardham in Uttarakhand will also become closer for Indian and foreign tourists. After visiting Kashi Vishwanath Dham and other temples, they can proceed to their destinations from Varanasi airport. Jewar airport will also prove helpful for travel on the Buddhist circuit. South Indian tourists will be able to start their journey from Kashi and proceed to their destination from Jewar.
Rahul Mehta, chairman, National Tourism & Hospitality Committee, Indian Industries Association (IIA) and state president, Tourism Welfare Association-UP, said that Jewar airport will directly connect agriculture, MSME, logistics, tourism and industries to the global market. Being close to Purvanchal, the development at Jewar International Airport will benefit the region. There is a possibility of an increase in farmers' income, as products like fruits, vegetables, dairy and decorative flowers will directly reach international markets. Along with this, Purvanchal's industry will also get direct access to international markets. Passengers travelling from Jewar airport will be able to travel directly and quickly via the Ganga Expressway without getting stuck in city traffic.
GI expert Padma Rajni Kant, popularly known as GI Man of India, said that Jewar airport will give new heights to the rich heritage of Uttar Pradesh and North India. The state's ODOP and GI tag products will be directly connected to international markets.
The IIA national secretary, Aupam Deva, said the airport will become a bridge between Make in UP and global market. Its link with Ganga Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway, a large multimodal cargo hub, and international as well as domestic flights will be extremely beneficial for the trade and industry of Purvanchal and entire UP.
