Varanasi: Traffic police on Thursday issued an advisory asking people to opt for alternative routes for night commuting between sis and trans-Ganga area through Malviya bridge from June 14 to Aug 13.
The restriction will be imposed every night from 10pm to 6.30am for special repair work on drainage spouts and expansion joints of the upper deck of the over 135-year-old double-decker bridge.
On this bridge, located on the Mohansarai–Deendayal Upadhyay (Mughalsarai) GT Road, movement of all vehicles as well as pedestrians between Namo Ghat and Padav will remain completely prohibited.
Vehicles travelling from Padav crossing towards Namo Ghat and Bhadaun Chungi via the Malviya Bridge will be diverted from Padav and will reach their destinations via Ramnagar, Samne Ghat and Vishwasundari Bridge.
Vehicles travelling from Golgadda trisection towards Padav via the Malviya Bridge will be diverted after taking a U-turn from Basanta College Mod via Lakarmandi flyover, Lahartara, Bhikharipur, Amra-Akhri NH-19 and Vishwasundari Bridge.
Alternatively, vehicles can proceed from Lakarmandi via Light Signal crossing, Chaukaghat, Police Line crossing and Sandaha.
