Nepal MP Rana calls for ethical use of AI

Gorakhpur: Nepal MP Sandeep Rana said that AI is reshaping global competition, education and entrepreneurship by removing traditional barriers such as geography and limited resources. However, he cautioned against emerging concerns like data privacy, misinformation and changing employment patterns, urging youth to adopt ethical and responsible use of technology."Young entrepreneurs and leaders should link AI with human values and social justice so that technology becomes helpful in the service of humanity. Ultimately, the future of AI depends on our decisions today, so let us together build a responsible and humane technical era," he said addressing the Global Artificial Intelligence Confluence-2026 at Guru Gorakshnath Shodh Peeth that concluded on Saturday.The event brought together students, experts and policymakers to discuss the evolving role of artificial intelligence.The event was organised under the joint auspices of the World Organization of Students and Youth (WOSY), Meta, and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University. Around 180 foreign-origin students studying in various institutions across India participated in the confluence.The programme featured six sessions over two days, covering themes such as AI startups, accessibility, education, culture and entrepreneurship. Experts discussed both the opportunities and challenges associated with artificial intelligence, including innovation, global competition, data privacy and misinformation.Prominent speakers included Deoria MP Shashank Mani Tripathi, IIIT Lucknow director Arun Mohan Sherry, Intel India's AI SOC Lead Dr Manish Pandey, and several academicians and industry experts.
