Varanasi: A man was arrested at Sarnath railway station on Sunday when he was trying to board a train for Mumbai after his wife lodged an FIR alleging that he raped his 9-year-old daughter.During interrogation, the 35-year-old accused stated that he had consumed alcohol and erred.Chaubeypur police station in-charge Virendra Sonkar said that after lodging an FIR on the complaint of the rape survivor’s mother on Saturday, police sent the girl for medical examination. After it, teams were engaged to nab the accused.Police tracked his location on Sunday morning and arrested the accused at Sarnath railway station before he could board a train, Sonkar said.Initial probe found that the accused reached home heavily intoxicated on Friday night. When his wife went to the terrace to sleep, he sexually assaulted his daughter, a Class IV student. The girl told her mother, who filed a police complaint.
