VARANASI: A team from the

Economic Offences Wing

(EOW) of Delhi Police arrested

Narendra Nath Dubey 'Adig'

in connection with a case of fraud lodged against him for forging signatures of around 20 MPs in his nomination for election to the post of vice president in 2012.

Dubey was thereafter taken to Delhi on Tuesday after a local court allowed his transit remand.

The Delhi Police team had a difficult time as a group of lawyers gathered in the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) where Dubey had to be produced following his arrest.

The lawyers claimed that Dubey was an advocate himself and should be given an opportunity to travel to the national capital and surrender before court there.

The team that arrested Dubey opposed the plea. CJM Rajeev Kumar issued transit remand and asked it to produce him before the court concerned by August 22 .
