VARANASI: A Class 10 student of Sunbeam School Maharajganj in Ghazipur district was stabbed to death during a clash between two rival groups of students on Monday morning.
The victim, Aditya Verma (14) of Yusufpur Muhammadabad, sustained severe injuries and was taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Two other students, including the accused and another boy named Sahil, were also injured and admitted to hospital for treatment.
According to ASP Gyanendra Nath, the fight broke out between 8.30 and 9 am when the two groups confronted each other. During the scuffle, one student pulled out a knife and attacked Aditya and others. Police later said the clash was the result of a personal dispute between the groups, who had also fought last week.
Senior police officials questioned students, school staff, and administrators after the incident. Aditya’s family alleged that Monday’s tragedy could have been avoided if the school had taken strict action after the earlier clash.
The ASP said a complaint from the family is awaited and assured that those responsible will not be spared.
