GORAKHPUR: Four aides of notorious criminal Chandan Singh were nabbed on Friday.
Addressing a press conference, SP, city, Paresh Pandey said, "On March 1, Chandan Singh made an extortion demand of Rs 10 lakh from cloth merchant Pawan Singhania, who owns a shop in Golghar market. After Singhania refused to give in to their demand, the miscreants barged into his shop on March 2 and fired on Pawan's father and an employee.
The police had been searching for Chandan Singh and his aides ever since." "Acting on a tip off, police nabbed Singh's three aides near Champa Devi Park in Taramandal area. They were identified as Amilesh Singh alias Appu Singh, Pintu Madhesia and Mandeep Singh." Pandey added.
During subsequent interrogation Appu Singh named Chhote Singh as their aide. He too was nabbed. Pandey further said that the trio told the cops that they had reached Singhania's shop on two motorcycles.
While Chandan Singh, Bisai and Appu were on one motorcycle, the two miscreants were on another. Pandey further said that the extortion plan was hatched on February 27.
