‘Citizens feel safe in UP. That’s Ram Rajya’
Gorakhpur: Asserting that Uttar Pradesh today is free from tension, anarchy and hooliganism, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that a sense of security among citizens reflects the true spirit of "Ram Rajya".
Addressing a gathering during the Bhakt Prahlad procession at Pandeyhata, the chief minister extended Holi greetings and said people in Uttar Pradesh now celebrate festivals without fear.
"There is no tension, no anarchy and no hooliganism. Everyone feels secure and trusts one another. This feeling of safety and mutual respect is the concept of Ram Rajya," he said.
Drawing from mythology, he compared criminals and mafia to Hiranyakashyap, saying strict action was necessary to curb anarchy as "laton ke bhoot baaton se nahin mante".
"Those who accused us of being divided should now see where the division is. A massive crowd has gathered for this celebration, and no one knows each other's caste, yet everyone is rejoicing in Holi together," he said.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yogi said India under his leadership is presenting the vision of a "New India" despite global unrest. "While many parts of the world face disorder, India is moving ahead with confidence and giving equal opportunities to every section," he said.
Yogi claimed that before 2014, festivals in UP were often marked by tension and curfews.
"Earlier govts divided society and traders and common citizens suffered. Neither daughters nor businessmen felt safe," he said, adding that the state has now emerged as an "utsav pradesh" with improved law and order.
He cited the ongoing Holi festivities in Mathura-Vrindavan as an example of peaceful celebrations drawing visitors from across the world.
Yogi also spoke about the Gorakhpur Virasat Corridor project, saying, "It will be the most beautiful in the state. Shops are being allotted to affected traders near Bandhu Singh Park at Ghantaghar. For those traders who are still left, a complex will be built near the DIET.
The site has been identified, and funds have been allocated. The govt's resolve is not to displace anyone but to provide opportunities for progress."
He said that the Heritage Corridor was once an important hub for traders and citizens from eastern UP, Bihar, and Nepal. Due to lack of facilities, congestion, and traffic jams, trade had declined. Now, with renewed development, the Heritage Corridor will once again become a major commercial hub.
Yogi said: "The double-engine govt is ensuring security and convenience to bring happiness to everyone's lives. With this spirit, when Gorakhpur develops, the state and the nation will also develop."

Celebrate Holi peacefully, avoid conflict: CM
CM Yogi Adityanath wished everyone a happy Holi, urging people to celebrate the festival peacefully and avoid actions that could lead to conflict. At the same time, he urged people to celebrate Holi responsibly. "Do not forcibly apply colours or create any situation that leads to tension. Avoid obscene songs and celebrate in harmony," he said.
He said that Holi is a festival of harmony and a symbol of social unity. Only through social unity can integrity be achieved. He called for the burning of ego, evils, and negativity during Holika Dahan.
