Varanasi: ATS, cops seize Rs 2.10 lakh counterfeit notes

In a joint action, the Varanasi field unit of anti-terror squad (ATS) and Cantonment police arrested one Dipak Sahani with a consignment of counterfeit currency notes of Rs 2.10 lakh from Subrato Chowk area on Sunday.

VARANASI: In a joint action, the Varanasi field unit of anti-terror squad (ATS) and Cantonment police arrested one Dipak Sahani with a consignment of counterfeit currency notes of Rs 2.10 lakh from Subrato Chowk area on Sunday.
Inspector, Cantt, Ashwini Chaturvedi said the police cordoned off Subrato Chowk in Cantonment area in morning and caught Sahani, a native of West Chanparan in Bihar.

When he was checked, two wads of counterfeit currency notes of Rs 2,000 and Rs 100 denomination were recovered.
Sahani said he procured the currency from Malda district in West Bengal and was taking it to Haryana to circulate it in the market. Earlier too, he was arrested in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Betia in Bihar with counterfeit currency. He had been released from Betia jail three months ago.
