Vadodara: The female white tiger brought to Sayajibaug Zoo in Vadodara in December last year has given birth to three cubs, of which one has survived and is doing well so far. The cub has been kept under observation in a quarantine facility at the zoo.
The white tiger pair was brought to Vadodara's zoo from Rajkot in December. Both animals were born in 2022 at Rajkot Zoo and had grown up together before being relocated.
Tigress Radha delivered three cubs on April 9. However, two of the newborns died shortly after birth as they were extremely underweight and weak. The third cub has survived and is currently being monitored by zoo staff.
Zoo officials said this was Radha's first delivery. They added that while typically one or two cubs are born in a first litter, survival of weak and underweight cubs can be difficult.
