Two doctors among 3 held for forgery
Vadodara: Two doctors and a hospital administrator were arrested by Panigate police on Saturday for forging medical documents to claim health insurance money from a private insurance company. Another doctor, who claimed to had taken treatment is yet to be arrested.
The investigating officer of Royal Sundaram General Insurance Company Ltd had given a complaint when it was learnt that Dr Sejal Kukadiya, a dentist, had submitted fake documents with the help of her husband Dr Bhavesh Kukadiya, orthopaedic Dr Animesh Solanki and administrator of Solanki’s hospital Jasmin Patel to claim treatment expense of Rs 2.6 lakh.
Sejal had claimed that she had undergone surgery at Solanki’s Sannadhi Hospital near Parivar crossroads between April 23 and April 27 last year. In her claim file she had submitted hospital bill, treatment details, pathology reports and prescriptions.
When the insurance company’s investigator went to the hospital for verification, Solanki initially said that Sejal had misused her hospital’s letter pad, but when the hospital’s admission records were checked, Sejal’s name was there along with a fake medical history. The pathology report was prepared by Patel, but it was in name of a laboratory that had closed down in 2019.
Based on the complaint, an FIR for forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy was registered on January 21. On Friday, the trio was detained and as their Covid-19 test reports turned out to be negative, they were arrested.
