Teenager held for extorting people online

Vadodara: A 19-year-old youth was arrested by the cybercrime police for allegedly extorting money from people in the city by blackmailing them. Akash Soni used his several Instagram accounts and 26 email ids to execute the crime.
According to the police, some days ago Soni sent a friend request to the complainant that was accepted. Soni, who was posing as a woman, sent a few nude photos to the complainant and asked him to do the same.After the complainant sent the photos, Soni began threatening the former that he will make the photos viral.
Soni then began demanding money from the complainant who ended up paying over Rs 1.28 lakh. When the complainant couldn’t pay more, he approached the police that tracked Soni with the help of the phone numbers and bank accounts to which the money was transferred. The cops are now trying to ascertain if he had duped any other persons.
