VADODARA: A sessions court here allowed anticipatory bail to Tushar Shah from Divya Simandhar Construction Private Limited (DSCPL), who is accused of alleged fraud in road construction works.Shah was booked at Navapura police station after a vigilance inquiry conducted by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) during which it had come to light that out of 99 invoices of bitumen that was produced by DSCPL, only 13 were genuine while the rest were dubious. After the offence was registered last month, Shah had pleaded innocence and had sought anticipatory bail from the court. However, the court opposed his bail application by informing the court through an affidavit that Shah’s custody is necessary. Police said that they want to interrogate Shah to verify the details that were revealed during the civic body’s inquiry. Cops also suspected that Shah may not be the sole person involved in committing fraud and some other person may have helped him therefore they wanted to interrogate him to get details. The court however turned down the arguments given by the police and allowed bail to Shah on Tuesday. VMC’s probe had also revealed that besides allegedly producing fraudulent invoices, the contractor had also used bitumen which was of inferior quality. The company had made three roads – Harinagar crossroads to Rajesh Tower, Old Padra Road to Ward 11 office in Diwalipura and the one from Dumad crossroads to Gabbar Apartment via Amitnagar Circle – between 2014 and 2015.
