Rajasthan man held in Karelibaug house loot attempt

Vadodara: The crime branch has arrested one man in connection with an attempted house loot in Karelibaug, while three other suspects remain at large. The incident, which occurred on Sep 18, left locals shocked as four men barged into the home of 76-year-old Vimal Bhatt in broad daylight.According to police, the incident took place in Amrapali Society while Bhatt and her grandchildren were at home. They entered through the backdoor and threatened Bhatt, attempting to make her unconscious using chloroform. Bhatt resisted and raised an alarm. During the scuffle, her house help arrived, prompting the accused to use chloroform on him as well. One of the assailants attacked Bhatt, causing a head injury, before fleeing the scene."During our investigation, we received a tip-off about one of the accused, Abhimanyu Rajput, who stays in Rajasthan. He was apprehended from Khindara village and brought to the city," police said.Rajput revealed that the crime was planned by Jaswant Rajput, a former driver in Bhatt's household. Knowing that the family kept substantial cash at home, Jaswant roped in Kesarsinh Bhayal, a Rajasthan native, and introduced him to the other two accused, Rajput and Vikramsinh Rathod. Jaswant promised each accomplice Rs 1.5–2 lakh for their role in the crime.Police said the gang arrived in Vadodara on Sep 14, staying in various lodges and conducting reconnaissance before carrying out the loot on Sep 18.
