Pooja guides Ahmedabad to team title

AHMEDABAD: She is one of the most consistent paddlers in the state circuit. Ahmedabad's Pooja Sharma just showed her class helped Ahmedabad claim the Late Manju Motiani Trophy for the women's team championship at the State and Inter-District Table Tennis Championship in Gandhidham on Monday. Ahmedabad thrashed the mighty Bhavnagar girls 3-1 in the final.It was a fine day for Pooja who won her two matches against Nirja Trivedi and Divya Gohil, while her senior teammate Prasanna Parekh completed the formality against Dwijal Trivedi.
The happiness was doubled as Ahmedabad girls went on to win the Late Naresh Motiani Trophy for junior girls team championship defeating holders Surat 3-1. There was no upset in the men's section though, where favourites Bhavnagar retained the Late Sitladas Sangtani Trophy crushing Baroda 3-0. Bhavnagar also retained the Late Asif Ismail Trophy of junior boys defeating Ahmedabad 3-0.
