Pavagadh ropeway shut till Saturday

Vadodara: The ropeway on Pavagadh hill will remain closed for maintenance until Saturday. Services have been suspended for routine annual upkeep of the facility.Operated by Usha Breco Ltd, the ropeway connects Maachi on Pavagadh hill to the Mahakali Temple at the summit. Pilgrims can travel by road up to Maachi and then either take the ropeway — christened Maa Mahakalika Udankhatola — or climb on foot to the temple.Sources said the maintenance exercise is conducted annually. The service is scheduled to resume on Sunday. The district administration, police, tourism department and the temple trust were informed in advance about the temporary suspension.
