VADODARA: Voluntary organizations and institutions in the city will hold a series of events to mark the International Human Rights Day on Thursday.
City-based woman NGO Olakh in association with Context - a venture formed by a group of individuals - has organized awareness campaign for violence against women. It will include session on 'Walk in Her Shoes'.
"We have planned a number of interactive events for the day. Volunteers will be holding placards that will describe the violent incidents in the city," says Priyank Shah, one of the organizers of the event. Shah added that a life-size snakes and ladders game will be held at Kamatibaug throughout the day and at Ratri Bazar in the evening.
Olakh will also hold a series of events in the coming days that will highlight violence against women. On December 17, a film on female foeticide and infanticide will be screened at the organization. Awareness campaigns on personal safety, gender sensitization workshops, youth conclave have been planned along with other awareness drives.
'Jan Swasthya Abhiyan' (JSA) has on Thursday organized a national campaign on better health. As part of the campaign, a meeting will be organized wherein a number of organizations working under JSA will discuss about the health problems faced by the citizens. JSA is a national institution working on improving the health conditions of the citizens.
Another organization Sahiyar will hold a rally from Mandvi in the Walled City at 3pm . The rally will conclude at the Gandhi Nagargruh following which plays and songs on women's rights will be performed.
