Kalol municipality office ransacked over pending woes

Vadodara: Elected representatives and residents of Kalol in Panchmahal district ransacked the municipality office, venting out anger over their complaints not being addressed despite several representations.

The residents of ward four in the town have been raising issues of a bad road, waterlogging, erratic supply and water contamination as well as other issues for a long time for over a year, but no solution was found, said Nilesh, son of councillor Meena Sutariya

On Friday morning, the residents went to the municipality but found no one present. Even the chief officer was on leave. The group ransacked the furniture and broke the partitions made for cabins of officials.

The residents have threatened to conduct an agitation regarding civic issues in the coming days. No offence was registered regarding the ransacking till Friday evening. This may be done at a later stage, sources said.
