Inox Wind commissions commercial production at HP

Inox Wind Limited on Monday announced commissioning and commencement of commercial production of its wind turbine generator manufacturing unit situated at Khasra industrial area in Himachal Pradesh's Una district.

VADODARA: Inox Wind Limited (IWL), a subsidiary of Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited and part of US $ 2 billion Inox Group, on Monday announced commissioning and commencement of commercial production of its wind turbine generator manufacturing unit situated at Khasra industrial area in Himachal Pradesh's Una district.
"On March 26, the Una unit dispatched its first unit comprising of nacelles and hubs for its 2 MW wind turbine," the company said in a release, adding that its 2 MW wind turbine is based on double-fed induction generator wind turbine design, and will be manufactured under a global license provided by Austria-based AMSC Windtec.

AMSC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of US-based American Superconductor Corporation.
Incorporated in April 2009, IWL is investing nearly Rs 150 crore to set up manufacturing facilities at Una in HP and Bawla near Ahmedabad. While the unit in HP will be manufacturing nacelles and hubs, the Gujarat unit, which is expected to be commissioned soon, will be making blades and towers for the wind turbines.
"This initiative will help chart Inox Group's diversification strategy in the renewable energy space and provide green energy for India's growth needs in an environmentally responsible manner," Devansh Jain, one of the directors of IWL said.
