Vadodara: Salim alias Khatiyo Shaikh, who was wanted for the murder of gangster Mukesh Harjani, was arrested by the police on Sunday. Shaikh was brought to city from Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh on a transfer warrant.
Shaikh was recently arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police for offences under Arms Act. A team of cops from city had left for Ratlam on December 1 to get his custody.
“Shaikh was present at the spot where Harjani was murdered.
However, he had not fired at him. He had arranged for guns that were used by others to kill him,” said M D Puwar, police inspector, City police station, who is investigating the case.
After the murder, Shaikh had fled to Godhra and had visited different states. “We will interrogate Shaikh as to who supported him when he was on run and also if other two main accused – Viju Sindhi and Kalpesh alias Kachhiya Patel were in touch with him,” added Puwar.
